Parks and Recreation

The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation proudly maintains 182 parks! Local parks have playgrounds, organized sports, special programs and classes from swimming lessons to aerobics to Teen Clubs. Community Regional Parks provide larger facilities that feature adult organized sports leagues, playing fields and walking clubs. Regional Parks include lakes with boating and fishing, miles of hiking trails, swimming and activities including bicycling, hiking and horseback riding. Nature Centers and Wildlife Sanctuaries provide education on the native flora and fauna of Los Angeles County. Visitors to the Department’s four arboreta and botanic gardens experience plants from throughout the world. With the nation’s largest municipal golf course system with 20 courses, the Department offers visitors an opportunity to play on beautiful golf courses with views from the mountains to the sea with reasonable rates. And, the Hollywood Bowl offers world-famous entertainment while emerging artists are featured at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre. The Department’s parks offer something for everyone!

“As a Department that proudly serves more than 23 million visitors a year, we don’t take our responsibility lightly. We believe strongly in our motto and guiding principle, which is “Parks Make Life Better!” That’s why we’re always working hard to meet the public’s demand for quality parks and recreational programs throughout Los Angeles County.”
