Mental Health
As the largest county mental health department in the U.S., the Department of Mental Health operates more than 175 program and co-located mental health sites, contracting with more than 1,000 providers who provide a spectrum of mental health services to people of all ages to support hope, wellness and recovery. Mental health services include screeenings and assessments, case management, self-help peer support groups, outreach to homeless, crisis intervention, medication support and other recovery services. Special emphasis is placed on addressing co-occurring mental health disorders and other health problems associated with addiction. The Department also provides counseling to victims of natural or manmade disasters, their families and emergency first responders.
