Health Services
DHS improves health through leadership, service and education. The Department of Health Services operates four acute care hospitals, one of which is also a nationally-renown rehabilitation hospital, and two of which are Level I trauma centers. DHS also operates 25 clinics offering a mix of primary care, specialty care, and urgent care services. Additionally, DHS operates the My Health LA Program which helps to ensure access to primary care services within the community for residually uninsured individuals within the County. Finally, LA County’s EMS Agency is also located within DHS, with regulatory responsibilities for managing emergency services across the County.
Individuals receive care within DHS hospitals and clinics each year
Nearly 400,000 individuals, including many who are uninsured, are assigned to a primary care provider within one of DHS' 30 primary care clinic sites
“Our County-operated public hospital and clinic system is here to serve you, making sure you have the support and care you need to lead a healthy life."
