The Department of Public Health focuses on prevention, seeking to assure a basic level of protection for the entire population, from the basic threats to the public's health, including food-borne and easily transmittable disease outbreaks, natural and man-made emergencies, to working to prevent chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
