DHR REPORT 2017 2018
LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES 18 STRATEGIC GOAL 5 Create a workplace of the future Our fifth goal is to create a workplace of the future that supports digital initiatives, maximizes the use of space resources, encourages collaboration, and promotes workplace health, and work/life balance for our employees. TELEWORK The County’s telework program was created by the Board of Supervisors on July 1, 2008 in order to help reduce air pollutants, establish a family-friendly work environment, and enhance the quality of life for County employees. Participation in telework is now available to both represented and non-represented employees across multiple County departments. In FY 2017- 2018, the Rideshare team helped further the County’s telework program by delivering telework training to over 3,000 employees Countywide. Additionally, a new on-line training curriculum, with tailored modules for the teleworker and telemanager was made available to participants to better promote successful teleworking amongst employees, and provide guidance for County supervisors to successfully tele-manage their staff. ePERSONNEL RECORDS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM In an important step to move towards DHR’s goal to “automate all things HR,” DHR, in partnership with the Department of Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, implemented the Electronic Personnel Digitization and Records management (ePR) system for three pilot departments in 2017. This new digital system created a central online official personnel records repository, and provides a secure, accessible, and auditable method for managing confidential personnel information contained in official personnel files. Due to the incredible success of the ePR system within the three pilot departments, DHR has now begun Countywide implementation of the ePR system, with the goal of digitizing all official personnel records across the County by December 31, 2019.
