Parks and Recreation
The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation proudly maintains 177 parks featuring playgrounds, organized sports, special programs and classes from swimming lessons to aerobics to Teen Clubs. Community Regional Parks provide larger facilities including adult organized sports leagues, playing fields and walking clubs. Regional Parks include lakes with boating and fishing, miles of hiking trails, swimming and activities including bicycling, hiking and horseback riding. Nature Centers and Wildlife Sanctuaries provide education on the native flora and fauna of Los Angeles County. Visitors to our four arboreta and botanic gardens experience plants from throughout the world. Parks & Recreation manages the world’s largest municipal golf course system with 19 courses as well as the world-famous Hollywood Bowl and John Anson Ford Amphitheatre.
